Olay Regenerist Retinol24 MAX Night Cream review for menopausal skin
At a glance
Olay Regenerist Retinol24 MAX Night Moisturizer is a retinol-and-niacinamide night cream with no fragrance entry on its ingredient list. It is a plausible retinol option for menopausal skin that is currently calm and not dry or sore, introduced slowly with sunscreen by day. It is not made for menopause, and menopausal skin that is dry, itchy or easily irritated may do better to wait or choose a plainer cream.
This is a researched review of Olay’s US product page, ingredient list and directions. We have not used the cream and make no before-and-after claim. Retinol changes how skin feels, and it is not a requirement for menopausal skincare.

What the official page shows
Olay’s US product page, checked October 10, 2026, lists water, dimethicone, glycerin, retinol, retinyl propionate, niacinamide, palmitoyl pentapeptide-4, palmitoyl dipeptide-7, tripeptide-3, carnosine, titanium dioxide and phenoxyethanol, among others. The page says to apply nightly and apply SPF the following morning, and promises visible change after 28 days. It lists the 1.7 oz jar at $46.65 on the Olay site.
- Retinoid: retinol and retinyl propionate; no percentage is published.
- Barrier support: glycerin and niacinamide are moisturizing and barrier-supporting ingredients, but they do not prevent irritation for everyone.
- No fragrance entry: a plus for reactive skin, though the page does not make a fragrance-free claim in the text we read.
Retinol and menopausal skin: the real decision
The AAD’s retinoid guidance describes dryness, redness and irritation as common effects and advises building up slowly. Skin around menopause can be drier and easier to irritate, so a retinol night cream may not be comfortable right away. Our guide to retinol irritation in menopausal skin covers how to simplify if it is not.
Is Retinol24 MAX a good night cream for mature skin?
It may suit you if:
- your skin is calm, not itchy, burning or flaky;
- you want to try a retinol product and will use sunscreen every morning;
- you can introduce it gradually.
Skip it, or ask a clinician first, if:
- your skin is newly sensitive, itchy or burning: menopausal skin suddenly sensitive;
- you already use another retinoid, acid or prescription product;
- you are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning pregnancy, where retinoid use needs a clinician’s advice.
Persistent redness, itch or rash is a reason to see a qualified clinician, not to add another active.

How to introduce it
Patch test on the inner arm. Start with two or three nights a week on clean, dry skin, increase slowly, and stop if it stings or peels. Use sunscreen every morning: see best sunscreens for dry skin around menopause. Do not add other actives at the same time. If your skin is dry, apply a plain moisturizer over it.
Questions before buying
Is Olay Retinol24 MAX good for menopausal skin?
It can be an option if your skin tolerates retinol, but it is not designed or tested for menopause. Dry or sensitive skin may need a gentler product.
Does it cause irritation?
Retinoids commonly cause dryness and redness at first. Reduce frequency or stop if skin burns or peels.
Can I use it every night?
Start slowly. Many people begin with a few nights a week.
Is it safe on the neck and around the eyes?
Check the directions on your package and avoid the eye area unless labeled.
The researched verdict
A mainstream retinol night cream with niacinamide and peptides that fits calm skin and a slow introduction. If your skin is dry, itchy or reactive, start with a simpler cream instead and talk to a clinician about persistent symptoms.
